Description	Hollywood director William Desmond Taylor was murdered Feb. 2, 1922 and the crime went unsolved. The man on the left in these portraits is Wm. Taylor. The man on the right was designated a 'mystery man', found in New York who kept murmuring the name of Taylor. Physicians theorized that he might be the brother of the murdered Taylor. It had been determined by this time that William Desmond Taylor 's real name was William Deane-Tanner, and he had disappeared from New York in 1908, coming to Hollywood and rising in the film industry.
