Historical Data	Loma Linda University was founded in 1905 as a sanitarium called the College of Medical Evangelists, by John Burden and Ellen G. White. From 1913 to 1962, the university taught basic sciences in Loma Linda, but sent its students to Los Angeles for clinical experience. In 1961 the college was upgraded to university status and renamed after the city. On July 9, 1967, the university opened the Loma Linda University Medical Center with more than 125 patients from the old community hospital. Today, Loma Linda University enrollment stands at approximately 5,000 students, and the Loma Linda University Medical Center admits more than 30,000 patients per year.

The identifiable areas are: Barton Road (bottom left to middle right); Prospect Avenue (lower left to middle right); University Avenue (current name as of 2010 - middle left to mid-photo); Stewart Street (paralleling University Ave, middle); Campus Street (lower left to middle left); Anderson Street (middle right, curving to upper left); Loma Linda University School of Dentistry (large white building, just left of middle); Campus Hill Church of Seventh-day Adventist (mid-photo, surrounded by trees); and Nichol Hall Allied Health Prof. And Public Health building (right of center, white building next to the church). The exact names of the other buildings shown are not known. Photograph dated February 6, 1957.
