Historical Data	The first YMCA facility in Los Angeles was constructed in 1908 at the corner of 7th and Hope, at 715 S. Hope Street; in 1969, the building was razed for the construction of what is now Macy's Plaza. A new $1.3 million Downtown YMCA was dedicated in 1986, and named in honor of Stuart M. Ketchum for both his long-time support for the organization and for his generous gift for the facility. The Stewart M. Ketchum Downtown YMCA, designed by Albert C. Martin & Associates, is located at 401 S. Hope Street.
