Encinos
State
Historic
Park
, as an
unidentified
woman
and a
California
State
Parks
ranger
hold
it
up
at the
sides
. The
original
rancho
of the
Valley
, this
five-acre
park
includes
the
original
nine-room
De
La
Osa
Adobe
(built
in
1849)
,
natural
springs
, and a
Spanish
guitar-shaped
pond
. The
rancho
was
originally
4,460
acres
in
size
, but
through
the
years
,
it
would
slowly
be
taken
apart
, a
piece
at a
time
. In
1916
,
1,170
acres
of
land
were
sold
from the
Rancho
. This
parcel
was
subdivided
and
became
the
city
of
Encino
. In
1949
, the
last
remaining
parcel
of
land
,
containing
the
De
La
Osa
Adobe
,
Garnier
House
and
spring
were
purchased
by the
State
of
California
, and the
Los
Encinos
State
Historic
Park
was
created
.
It
is
located
on
Moorpark
Street
, at the
corner
of
Balboa
and
Ventura
boulevards
.
Sheila
Kuehl
is
a
former
child
actress
who
portrayed
Zelda
Gilroy
in the
television
series
, "The
Many
Loves
of
Dobie
Gillis
".
