is
best
remembered
for his
TV
roles

Perry
Mason
" and "
Ironside
"
winning
two
Emmy
awards
for his
work
in "
Perry
Mason.
"
Burr
was
married
once
, but that
union
lasted
less
than
four
years
.
It
was an "
open
secret
" in
Hollywood
that
Burr
was
gay
and he
lived
with his
partner
,
Robert
Benevides
, for
nearly
forty
years
.
Burr
was
known
for
being
a
generous
and
kind
person
,
giving
to
charities
often
and
treating
his
fellow
actors
well
. He
died
on
September
12
,
1993
.
