screenwriter

talent
agent
and
actor
.
Originally
from
New
York
, he
came
to
Los
Angeles
in
1938
and
soon
became
one
of the
top
talent
agents
in
Hollywood
.
Walter
Wanger
was an
American
film
producer
,
starting
with
silent
films
in the
twenties
and
working
into the
1960s
. He was
married
to
actress
Joan
Bennett
. In
1951
,
Wanger
shot
Lang
in the
groin
,
after
seeing
Lang
and his
wife
together
,
believing
they were
having
an
affair
.
Lang
recovered
,
Wanger
pleaded
insanity
and
served
four
months
.
Wanger
and
Bennet
remained
married
until
1965
.
Lang
died
in
1996
,
Wanger
in
1968
and
Bennett
in
1990
.
