Description	Photograph caption dated October 4, 1981 reads, "About 300 Compton children and their parents, fed up with increasing violence and crime, stage a demonstration to attract the attention of city officials, whom the protesters claim have been "insensitive" to the problem. The group marched yesterday around Compton City Hall to the Compton Police Station, singing songs and carrying sings such as "Now is the time to help reduce crime and help save our world." Spokeswoman Mary Ellen Flores said, "We have too many killings, the poor are being hit the hardest." A list of demands asking for increased police patrols and protection will be given to city officials this week."
