Description	Photograph caption dated October 23, 1981 reads, "With its engine failing and zero visibility because of fog, this Beechcraft Bonanza crash-landed at Torrance Airport today, but pilot Bob Thompson, 54, and his wife, Patricia, 56, of Cerritos, miraculously walked away with just scratches. Three planes were virtually destroyed and others damaged when the Bonanza skidded across the runway. 'Im a scared passenger at best, but now, I'm an ex-passenger,' said Mrs. Thompson, who suffered a cut knee. Torrance police officer Steve Badenoch said Thompson, en route from Long Beach to San Luis Obispo, first reported engine problems over Torrance Airport about 8 a.m. After circling the airport twice, the plane lost power, and Thompson was forced down. 'It was really spectacular, and it was unbelievable that the couple was not hurt.' Badenoch said. The heavy fog also forced cancellation of all flights at Los Angeles International Airport for about six hours today."
