Description	Photograph caption dated February 17, 1954 reads, "For a city expecting the arrival of the President of the United States, Palm Springs looked like a 'ghost town' town. No flags or bunting lined the main street, traffic was at a minimum and hardly a person could be seen when this picture was taken. But that's the way Ike wanted it--no hoopla. Arrow points to a microwave transmitter on roof, for emergency phone service."
