Description	Photograph caption dated December 22, 1986 reads, "Carrying placards, above, bearing the names of nearly 600 people who died in various kinds of community violence, nearly 200 students marched from George Washington Preparatory High School, 10860 S. Denker Ave., to Jesse Owens County Park yesterday in support of non-violence. Cries of "peace" punctuated the fourth annual walk along Imperial Highway, and some of the demonstrators gave the two-fingered peace sign, right, familiar from the mass movements of the 1960s. The event was carried out as part of a continuing campaign at Washington High to emphasize student achievement and to fight drugs and gangs by offering an alternative form of activity."
