Description	Caption reads, "A view of the Schindler house from the rear patio; Pauline's former space is straight on, Rudolph's is on right." Photo dated: May 14, 1978.; Rudolph M. Schindler designed this 2,500 square foot residence and studio, located at 835 N. Kings Road in West Hollywood, for himself between 1921 and 1922. The structure is is designed as two interlinking "L" shaped living quarters, the Schindler and Chase apartments. Each apartment, originally intended for individual families, consists of 2 studios with a connected utility room, which consists of a kitchen, laundry room, and storage space. The studio includes its own kitchen and bathroom. The sleeping quarters consist of redwood sleeping baskets at the rooftop, with appropriate protection from the elements. The Friends of the Schindler House (FOSH) purchased the home in 1980, and a few years later, the structure was fully restored. In 1994, FOSH entered into an agreement with the Austrian Museum of Applied Arts / Contemporary Art, Vienna to oversee the property, which came to be known as the MAK Center; FOSH owns the property and the museum oversees finances and programming for the center.
