Description	Wives and children all pitch in to help build up and maintain their El Monte homesteads, because if they pass the government's probationary period by showing good results they will be able to buy their homes on 20-year small payment terms. Mrs. Harriet Hintermeister, whose husband works on the aqueduct and gets home only once in a fortnight, is shown with her daughter putting finishing touches to a fence they built. Neighbors say it's the project's prize fence. Photo date: March 6, 1936.
