Description	Here is a new kind of mixer, operated by an engineer on the soundproof stage where the "talkies" are made. This mixer controls the volume of sound that comes from the microphones to the recording room and prevents the players' voices from reaching the screen either too loudly or too softly. Director of sound effects at Paramount Studios in Hollywood is Roy J. Pomeroy. Photo date: August 31, 1928.
