Historical Data	Born and raised in Los Angeles, Kinmont appeared on the cover of "Sports Illustrated" the week of the accident because she was considered a shoe-in to make the U.S. team for the 1956 Cortina d'Ampezzo Olympics. Instead, she became one of the first victims of the "Sports Illustrated Cover Jinx." Later, after Kinmont graduated from UCLA, she became a teacher-artist and inspiration for the film "The Other Side of the Mountain."
