Description	The Los Angeles River is shown flowing through twisted steel girders of the Santa Fe's main railroad bridge on May 4, 1941, after floodwaters from a rainstorm undermined the concrete pier in the foreground. The pier toppled, throwing half of the bridge into the river. Weakened, the rest of the bridge could fall.
