Angeles
Police
Department
, but
resigned
from the
force
in
order
to
pursue
both
a
Bachelor's
and
Master's
degree
from
USC
. He
later
became
involved
in
city
politics
, as an
associate
of
Sam
Yorty
, and
later
a
field
deputy
to
City
Council
members
Billy
Mills
and
Tom
Bradley
. He was
briefly
director
of the
Model
Cities
program
in
1973
.
Rolland
J
.
Curtis
died
in his
home
in
1979
, the
victim
of a
homicide
. An
affordable
housing
complex
on
Exposition
Blvd
.
near
Vermont
Ave
. was
named
in his
honor
in
1981
,
along
with a
nearby
street
and
park.

Thomas
Mankell
Rees
was
born
on
March
26
,
1925
. He
served
in the
California
State
Assembly
and
Senate
.
Rees
introduced
the
bill
in the
state
legislature
which
created
the
Southern
California
Rapid
Transit
District
. He was
elected
to the
U.S
.
House
of
Representatives
in
1965
.
Rees
died
in
2003.

Albert

born

in
Oklahoma
, CA.
Due
to his

feet
and

inches
statue
he was
deemed
as the "
Little
Giant
from

Dixie.
" He
served
as the

and was
Oklahoma's
3rd
Congressional

Rep

.
Albert
was an
important
figure
in
advancing
the
health
care
legislation
,
Medicare
through
President
Kennedy's
presidency
. He also
voted
in
favor
of the
Civil
Rights
Acts
of
1960
,
1964
, and
1968
, in
addition
to the
24th
Amendment
and the
Voting
Rights
Acts
of
1965
.
Amidst
the
Watergate
scandal
during
Nixon's
presidency
and
having
referred
two
dozen
impeachment
resolutions
for
debate
and
study
,
Albert
appointed
the
first
female
House
page
,
Felda
Looper
in
1973
.
Albert
was
inducted
into the
Oklahoma
Hall
of
Fame
in
1957
,
holding
the
highest
political
office
of any
Oklahoma
native
in
American
history
.
Albert
died
in
2000
.
