Description	Photo of First United Methodist Church of San Pedro, located at 580 W. 6th St. and the corner of S. Grand Ave, shows a unique open tower that is partially made up of crosses. This 3-story cream-color building with brown facade and brown roof has two main entrances, one on either side at the front of the church (partially visible on the lower left of the photo).; The United Methodist Church is the largest Methodist denomination, having both mainline and evangelical elements. It is organized into conferences; the highest level is called the General Conference and it is the only organization which may speak officially for the church. The United Methodist Church (UMC) operates in the evangelical tradition, but is primarily a Protestant denomination which seeks to create disciples for Christ through outreach, evangelism, and through seeking holiness through the process of sanctification. UMC has a worldwide membership of approximately 12 million members: 8.1 million in the United States, and 3.5 million in Africa, Asia, and Europe - with the largest growth in membership occurring in Africa and the Philippines.
