Description	One of the most dramatic and death-defying feats ever recorded is told in this photo at the Santa Fe Springs oil refinery fire. Standing hip deep in a cauldron of oil, gasoline and water, Battalion Chief Lester Bullock (arrow) waits while Fireman Gene Boynton (right) shoots a strong spray of water onto a sheet of flame engulfing the shut-off valve on the oil tank. A moment later, Chief Bullock waded to the valve and turned it off. Capt. Charles Holloway (left) followed him, to aid if necessary. Chief Bullock's legs were severly seared, but he will recover.
