Description	Exterior view of the Lompoc Museum, located at 200 South H Street in downtown Lompoc. Originally this building was the site of the Lompoc Public Library, built in 1910 with a $10,000 grant from Andrew Carnegie. It was designed in the Classical Revival (Type B) style by architect W.H. Weeks and construction was completed by A.D. Burke in 1911. In 1969, a new library was built and its collections were moved from this building to the new location. Soon thereafter a local educator and amateur archeologist, Clarence Ruth, donated his extensive collection of Native American artifacts to the City with the provision that they be kept on permanent display in an accessible and safe location. It was then decided that the former library would become a museum to house not only Ruth's collection, but other collections of local interest as well.
