ballpark

. The
stadium
broke
ground
on
September
17

1959

built
between
1959-1962

opened
on
April
10
,
1962
, and has been
home
to the
Los
Angeles
Dodgers
baseball
team
ever
since
.
It
was
designed
by
architect
Emil
Praeger
and was
built
by the
Vinell
Construction
Company
. The
stadium
sits
on
300
acres
, and has a
fan
capacity
of
56,000
, and
parking
capacity
of
16,000
.
Dodger
Stadium
was
privately
financed
by
Walter
O'Malley
with an
original
proposed
cost
of
$12
million
,
which
balloooned
to
$16
million
during
construction
, and was
finally
completed
at a
cost
of
$23
million
.
