Historical Data	Will Keith Kellogg (1860-1951) was best known as the founder, and breakfast cereal magnate, of the Kellogg Company. In 1925 he purchased 377 acres in Pomona, for which he paid $250,000, so that he could establish an Arabian horse ranch. In 1932 Kellogg donated the property, which had since grown to 750 acres, to the University of California system; during WWII the ranch was taken over by the U.S. War Department. In 1948, it was transferred to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, but just one year later, it was deeded back to the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. Later that same year, title to the ranch as well as its horses was passed to the State of California; the ranch was now 813 acres. Kellogg Ranch became part of the Voorhis unit of what was then known as the California State Polytechnic College in San Luis Obispo. Eventually, this became known as the Kellogg Campus, which separated in 1966 to form the California State Polytechnic College Pomona (now known as California State Polytechnic University, Pomona).
