Prior to then, it was an unincorporated part of Los Angeles County. Among some of the notable residents are or have been: (Actors) Jennifer Aniston, Chuck Connors, Louise Brooks, Leslie Caron, Errol Flynn, Troy Donahue, Steve Martin, Robert Mitchum, Meg Ryan; (Musicians) Alice Cooper, Denny Doherty, Cass Elliot, Fabian, Anthony Kiedis, Keith Moon, Jim Morrison, Gram Parsons, Neil Young, Frank Zappa, Joni Mitchell, Graham Nash, Jackson Browne; (Authors) Robert A. Heinlein, C. M. Kornbluth, Gardner McKay; (Director) Orson Wells; (Magician) Harry Houdini; (Socialite) Abigail Folger; (Politician) Jerry Brown, etc. to name but a few. Laurel Canyon has been mentioned in many films and novels of Los Angeles.
