park
located
at

Street
and
Beaudry
.
Built
to
relieve
overcrowding
at
nearby
Belmont
High
School
, this
new
school
sits
on
33.5
acres
and
cost
approximately
$202,305,125
to
complete
. With
104
classrooms
,
it
can
accommodate
2,500
students
serving
grades
9-12
. A
separate
building
on the
campus
accommodates
a
library
,
cafeteria
,
auditorium
and
parent/student
center
. A
3,000-seat
gymnasium
with
locker
rooms
as
well
as
outdoor
athletic
facilities
are
included
on the
site
,
making
this
one
of the
more
luxurious
schools
of the
urban
sections
of the
district
.
Adjacent
to the
school
is
a
park
that
is
available
to the
public
as
well
as for
school-sponsored
programs
.
Because
the
site
of the
school
had
previously
been
used
for
industrial
purposes
, and a
concern
of
soil
contamination
was
confirmed
during
development
in
1999
, the
entire
site
is
underlaid
by a
$17
million
methane
mitigation
system
,
which
will
cost
$250,000
a
year
to
operate
. This
new
school
opened
on
September
2
,
2008
.
