Historical Data	"Little Toot", a bright blue and yellow vehicle, is the smallest of the Los Angeles Public Library's fleet of four bookmobiles, which serves 27 schools in the city and the Harbor area nine months out of the year. This vehicle was specifically constructed on a truck body at the cost of $7,000, and weighs 2 1/2 tons. Staffed by 3 librarians and a driver, it carries a variety of approximately 3,000 books catering mostly to children in grades K-8th. These bookmobiles, or "libraries on wheels", brought books mostly to the disadvantaged, low-income areas or the outlying sections of the city where community libraries had not been established. The name "Little Toot" was secured with permission from author Hardie Gramatky.
Description	Girl Scouts from Troop 2248 as well as other children, browse through several books from the Los Angeles Publid Library's "Little Toot" Bookmobile collection. A woman standing at the rear of the bookmobile hands several books to another woman just outside of it, while a third can be seen lifting two "flaps", exposing a section of bookshelves at the side of the mobile. These three women are most likely the librarians that staff this bookmobile.
